Important tips
It's usually impossible to perfectly translate your name into Hebrew, but here are some tips to get it done the best:

  • Vowels at beginning of words use  א
  • Vowels at end of words use  ה
  • pie, photo, fear, use  פ
  • Sh as in Shoe, use  
  • O as in open, oo as in choose, use   ו
  • W, use  וו
  • J as in John, use   י
  • Some letters have the same sounds, most commonly used is for "s/sh", ת for "t",

Some letters have a different shape if they are at the end of the word, including the following:
  • כ = ך (end)
  • פ = ף (end)
  • מ = ם (end)
  • נ = ן (end)
  • צ = ץ (end)

Phonetic Alphabet
Some hebrew letters have the same sound, ones with a * are used more frequently.
א silent * י yellow, "ay" as in brian ע silent
ב boy, violin * כ cat פ fat, phone, pool
ג girl ך (final letter) ף (final letter)
ד dog ל letter צ cats
ה hello, silent מ mother ץ (final letter)
ו violin, vowel: open, choose ם (final letter) ק cook
ז zoo נ no ר red
ח ch ן (final) ש shoe, sole *
ט tall ס soup ת tall*
